Last night Rick and I attended his 40th high school reunion! (I must be much younger than Rick) We dressed in business casual and I put on make up and tried to look good, to meet these folks from my husband’s distant past . My husband looked at me and told me how beautiful I looked.
Now, I have age spots and wrinkles. I’ve gained weight, and only my hair-dresser knows. But Rick looks at me and he always makes me feel that I look as good as I did 36 years ago when we met. Since I’m pretty certain he’s not delusional, I realize that he chooses to see me through the eyes of love and I am blessed.
This gives me a picture of how God sees me–something my “kids” have been talking about lately. God sees me in the light of the cross, covered by the blood of the Lamb. He sees me through the eyes of Christ, He knows me completely, and still loves me. Oh, how I am blessed.
